Tenuiphantes tenuis (Blackwall, 1852) is a spider species that belongs to the family Linyphiidae. Its reported native distribution includes Europe, Macaronesia, Northern Africa, Turkey, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. It has been introduced from Europe to the USA, Chile, Argentina, and New Zealand, and it occurs throughout Europe. Its body length, when legs are excluded, is approximately 2 to 3 millimetres (0.079 to 0.118 inches). This species has a dark brown carapace. The abdomen often shows a distinctive pattern, usually with distinct black spots. T. tenuis has a more slender body than other species in its family. Its legs are brown and do not have annulations. T. tenuis typically inhabits low vegetation, moss, and leaf litter, and it feeds on a variety of insects including Listronotus bonariensis.
