About Tenthredo olivacea Klug, 1817
Tenthredo olivacea Klug, 1817 is a sawfly that reaches an adult body length of approximately 8 to 14 millimetres (0.31–0.55 inches). It has an entirely green body and green head, with dark green eyes. Black markings appear across its head, thorax, and abdomen. A distinct black line runs along the dorsal surface of its femur, tibia, and tarsus. Its wings are transparent (hyaline) with black veins. This species is similar to Rhogogaster viridis, but has a thinner body. Unlike Tenthredo olivacea, R. viridis has black rings on its tarsi. Adult Tenthredo olivacea are active from May through August. Adults feed on pollen, nectar, honeydew, and small insects, while larvae feed on a variety of herbaceous plants. This sawfly species is distributed across most of Europe.
