About Temognatha variabilis (Donovan, 1805)
Temognatha variabilis (Donovan, 1805) can reach a body length of approximately 35 millimetres, or 1.4 inches. This species has highly variable body colour, which ranges from yellowish to dark red. Its elytra are punctato-striate, and may bear black markings. The thorax usually has a median black area, with yellow or bright red markings on each side. The head and legs are black, with greenish reflections. Larvae of this species live in She-oak trees belonging to Casuarina species in the family Casuarinaceae. This species is distributed in southeastern Australia.
