About Telophorus viridis (Vieillot, 1817)

The gorgeous bushshrike, with the scientific name Telophorus viridis (Vieillot, 1817), is a bird species belonging to the family Malaconotidae. This species is also commonly called the four-coloured bushshrike. Some authorities restrict the name gorgeous bushshrike specifically to the nominate subspecies Telophorus viridis viridis. Different subspecies of Telophorus viridis have distinct distribution ranges: the nominate subspecies T. v. viridis is found in Angola, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, and Zambia; T. v. nigricauda occurs in coastal Kenya and Tanzania; T. v. quartus lives in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe; and T. v. quadricolor is distributed in South Africa and Eswatini.
