About Telmatoblechnum indicum (Burm.) Perrie, D.J.Ohlsen & Brownsey
Telmatoblechnum indicum, which also has many synonyms including Blechnum indicum, is commonly known as the swamp water fern. It is frequently found growing on sandy soils in swampy areas. Its specific epithet 'indicum' comes from Latin, indicating that this plant was first collected in the East Indies (Java). Indigenous Australians used the plant's starchy rhizome as a source of food. In 1770, Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander collected this species alongside another swamp fern, Cyclosorus interruptus, at Botany Bay.
