Tegenaria silvestris L.Koch, 1872 is a rare spider species. It occurs most often in caves or on dumps, and can sometimes be found on forest edges or in dry forests. This spider builds its webs under tree trunks, under dead wood, and inside tree hollows. In 2005, the species was moved from the genus Tegenaria to the genus Malthonica; it was moved back to Tegenaria in 2013.
