Tecomella undulata (Sm.) Seem. is a tree species found in Oman, and in the area ranging from southwest Iran to northwest India. It is the only species contained in the monotypic genus Tecomella. This is a medium-sized tree that produces high-quality timber. In the desert regions of Shekhawati and Marwar in Rajasthan, an Indian state, it is the main source of timber among native indigenous tree species. In this region, it is called rohida in the local language, and it is the official state symbol. Its trade names are desert teak and Marwar teak. Tecomella undulata has a history of traditional use in Ayurvedic and folk medicine. Different parts of the plant are thought to help treat liver disorders, skin diseases, and inflammation. The species is also valued for its timber, and it is sometimes cultivated for both medicinal and ecological uses.
