About Tauraco livingstonii (G.R.Gray, 1864)
Livingstone's turaco, with the scientific name Tauraco livingstonii (G.R.Gray, 1864), is a bird species in the Musophagidae family. It was named in honor of Charles Livingstone, brother of David Livingstone. This species is found across the subtropical lowlands of southeastern Africa. It has an isolated population located in Burundi; outside of this isolated population, it occurs from southern Tanzania to eastern and southern Malawi, eastern Zimbabwe, across wide areas of Mozambique, and along the subtropical coast of South Africa. In both appearance and behavior, Livingstone's turaco shares many traits with the South African Knysna turaco, and with Schalow's turaco, which replaces this species in the plateau regions west of its range.
