The white-cheeked turaco, currently scientifically named Tauraco leucotis (Ruppell, 1835), is also referenced under the scientific name Menelikornis leucotis. It is a bird species belonging to the family Musophagidae. It is a mid-sized bird, measuring approximately 43 cm (17 in) in total length, with a 19 cm (7.5 in) tail, and weighing between 200โ€“315 g (7.1โ€“11.1 oz). This species is the most frequently raised turaco in captive settings. It is native to Eritrea, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Sudan. In these countries, it inhabits Podocarpus and juniper forests located in highland regions.
