About Targalla delatrix (Guenée, 1852)

Targalla delatrix (Guenée, 1852), commonly called the eugenia caterpillar, is a moth that belongs to the family Euteliidae. The species was first described by Achille Guenée in 1852. It has a wide distribution across the Indo-Australian tropics, reaching as far east as Fiji. It has also been recorded on Rapa Iti, in the Society Islands, and in Hawaii. The larvae of this moth feed on two plant species: Eugenia uniflora and Syzygium cumini, which are both members of the myrtle family Myrtaceae.
