Scientific name: Taraxia subacaulis (Pursh) Rydb.

Commonly called longleaf suncup, this is a stemless perennial plant that grows from a thick taproot. It produces a single rosette. The leaves that form this rosette are roughly hairless, with a somewhat fleshy texture. They are either lanceolate (shaped like a spear head) or narrowly elliptic (with gently curving sides). The edges of the leaves can be either smooth, or irregularly lobed.
