It is a rodent species that belongs to the family Sciuridae. This squirrel inhabits various types of forest ranging from tropical to subtropical zones, and its distribution covers Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. It is a diurnal, arboreal species that feeds on fruit, vegetable matter, and insects. It is frequently seen in small groups, and uses tree holes as shelter.
