About Takydromus smaragdinus Boulenger, 1887

Takydromus smaragdinus, commonly known as the green grass lizard, is a species of lizard that belongs to the family Lacertidae. This species is endemic to the Ryukyu Islands of southern Japan, where it can be found on the Tokara Islands (Takarajima and Kodakarajima), the Amami Islands, and the Okinawa Islands. The combined area of occupancy of this species across all these islands is approximately 2600 square kilometers. For reproduction, female green grass lizards lay multiple clutches of eggs between April and August, with each clutch containing two eggs. The eggs hatch after approximately one month. Juvenile lizards receive no parental care after hatching, and reach sexual maturity within one year.
