About Tagetes filifolia Lag.

Tagetes filifolia Lag. is a New World marigold species belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is widely distributed across most of Latin America, growing from northern Mexico to Argentina. Its common name is Irish lace, even though this plant does not grow naturally in Ireland. This plant is a branching annual herb that can reach up to 50 cm (20 inches) in height. It produces a strong scent that is similar to anise or liquorice. Its leaves look like small, branching feathery threads. In the regions where this species is native, local people use it as a food flavoring, to make tea, and as a diuretic.
