About Tagelus californianus (Conrad, 1837)

Tagelus californianus (Conrad, 1837) is a bivalve species defined by the characteristics of its shells. The shells of this species can grow up to 130 millimetres (5.1 inches) in length, with an approximate height of 33 millimetres (1.3 inches). The shells are yellowish-white, marked with rust-colored stains, and covered by a dark periostracum. The posterior margin of the shell is slightly sinuous. This species occurs in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, ranging from the Gulf of California north to Oregon.
