About Taeniamia fucata (Cantor, 1849)

Taeniamia fucata, commonly known as the orange-lined cardinalfish or painted cardinalfish, is a marine fish that naturally occurs on reefs. Its range extends from northern Australia and New Guinea, across the Indian Ocean to the east coast of Africa, and across the Pacific Ocean to the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Tonga, and the Ryukyu Islands. This species was classified under the name Archamia fucata until 2013. FishBase considers Taeniamia sansibaricus to be the same species as Taeniamia fucata, while the Catalog of Fishes recognizes Taeniamia sansibaricus as a separate valid species.
