About Tacua speciosa (Illiger, 1800)

Scientific name: Tacua speciosa (Illiger, 1800). T. speciosa has a wingspan of 15โ€“18 cm (5.9โ€“7.1 in) and a head-body length of 4.7โ€“5.7 cm (1.9โ€“2.2 in). The genera Megapomponia, Pomponia, and Tacua contain the largest cicadas found in the world. This species has black wings, a yellow-green collar, a red transverse stripe across its thorax, and a turquoise-blue abdomen. Tacua speciosa is distributed across Borneo, Sumatra, Java, Singapore, and the Malay Peninsula. While it has historically been reported to occur in Northeast India, this record is now considered an error.
