Tachytrechus angustipennis is a species of long-legged fly belonging to the family Dolichopodidae. This species is distributed across the United States, ranging from California and Utah east to Washington, D.C., south to Florida, and also extends into the Neotropical realm. It has additionally been recorded from the Hawaiian Islands. In Yellowstone National Park, adult individuals of this species live on algal mats. Tachytrechus angustipennis is a predatory species, and its primary prey consists of the eggs and larvae of Paracoenia. Males of this species are territorial.
