Tachypompilus ferrugineus is a wasp species that is mostly reddish-brown in color. It has four narrow dark bands that circle its abdomen and violet-blue wings. The body of this wasp measures between 15 and 25 mm, which equals 0.59 to 0.98 inches, in length. This wasp has a distribution range that extends from as far north as Canada, south through the United States, Mexico, and Central America, all the way to South America and the Caribbean.
