About Tabernaemontana ventricosa Hochst. ex A.DC.

Tabernaemontana ventricosa Hochst. ex A.DC. grows as a small tree, and produces latex. Its leathery oblong leaves are clustered near the ends of branches. This species bears white flowers and oval-shaped fruit. It is native to a region of Africa stretching from Nigeria east to Kenya, and south to Mozambique. It grows in forests at altitudes ranging from sea level up to 1,850 m (6,000 ft). Locally, it is used to treat wounds, fever, and hypertension. Its fruit is edible, and its wood is used locally to make planks.
