The diamond lizardfish, whose scientific name is Synodus synodus (Linnaeus, 1758), is a species of lizardfish that inhabits tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean. In the Americas, its distribution ranges from North Carolina in the United States to Uruguay. It is also found across many Atlantic islands, including those in the Caribbean, plus Bermuda, Saint Helena, Ascension Island, and São Tomé. It also occurs in Senegal and Macaronesia, which includes Cape Verde, the Canary Islands, the Savage Islands, and Madeira.
