Synlestes selysi is a species of Australian damselfly belonging to the family Synlestidae, and it is commonly called the forest needle. This species is endemic to eastern New South Wales and eastern Queensland, and it lives in streams in these regions. It is a large to very large damselfly, with a metallic green-black body marked with pale patches. When perching, it holds its wings either partially or fully spread out.
