Synanthedon stomoxiformis is a moth species that belongs to the family Sesiidae. This species is distributed across most of Europe, with the exception of Ireland, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Fennoscandia, Estonia and Latvia, and it can also be found in the Middle East. The wingspan of adult Synanthedon stomoxiformis ranges from 22 to 31 mm. Adult moths are active on the wing during June and July. The larvae of this species feed on the roots of Frangula alnus and Rhamnus cathartica, and there are also recorded feeding occurrences on Mespilus germanica, Juglans regia, as well as species within the Prunus and Quercus genera.
