About Symphyotrichum concolor (L.) G.L.Nesom
Symphyotrichum concolor (L.) G.L.Nesom is a perennial herbaceous flowering plant. It reaches heights between 30 and 80 centimeters, or 12 to 31 inches. Its leaves are grayish-green, with a silky appearance and texture. Flower structures of this species have 8 to 12 rose-purple ray florets, which rarely appear white, and disk florets that are pink when young and turn purple as they mature. This species is native to the Atlantic coastal plain and Piedmont regions of the eastern United States, and also to the Bahamas. It grows in scrub, flatwoods, fields, and roadsides, and occurs at elevations up to 600 meters, or 1,970 feet.
