It is native to the western United States and northwestern Mexico. Confirmed populations of this plant have been recorded in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, eastern Oregon, the Oklahoma Panhandle, far western Texas, and northern Baja California.
