About Symphodus trutta (Lowe, 1834)
The emerald wrasse, with the scientific name Symphodus trutta, is a species of marine ray-finned fish that belongs to the wrasse family Labridae. This species is endemic to the eastern Atlantic Ocean. It occurs in the Macaronesian archipelagoes of the Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Islands. It was previously believed to also inhabit the Azores, but specimens originally identified as this species from the Azores actually belong to the distinct species Symphodus caeruleus.
