Symphodus doderleini is a wrasse species first described by Jordan in 1890. This fish is native to coastal waters ranging from the Mediterranean Sea through the Sea of Marmara. It lives in eelgrass beds, found at depths between 2 and 40 meters, or 6.6 to 131.2 feet. The maximum recorded standard length of this species is 10 centimeters, or 3.9 inches.
