About Sylvicapra grimmia (Linnaeus, 1758)
The colouration of Sylvicapra grimmia varies widely across its large geographic range. Fourteen subspecies of this species have been described, with colour ranging from chestnut in the forested areas of Angola, to grizzled gray in northern savannas, and light brown in arid regions. This species reaches approximately 50 cm (20 in) in height, and typically weighs 12 to 25 kg (26 to 55 lb). Females of the species are generally larger and heavier than males. Only males grow horns, which can reach a length of 11 cm (4.3 in).
