About Swammerdamia lutarea Haworth, 1828
Paraswammerdamia lutarea (originally described as Swammerdamia lutarea Haworth, 1828) is a moth species belonging to the family Yponomeutidae, found in Europe. This species has a wingspan of 11 to 14 mm. Its head is white, and may sometimes have an ochreous tint. The thorax is fuscous, and is sometimes sprinkled with white scales. Forewings are fuscous-whitish, and are closely speckled with dark fuscous; they bear several longitudinal rows of indistinct dark fuscous dots, a complete dark fuscous fascia before the middle, and a white costal spot before the apex. Cilia are fuscous, marked with two darker lines. Hindwings are solid fuscous. The larva is deep brown, with a white subdorsal line marked with orange spots, and a white spiracular line that has orange spots above it on segments 5 to 12. The larval head is ochreous-brown with blackish markings. Adult moths are on the wing in July, with timing varying depending on location. The larvae feed on Crataegus, Sorbus aucuparia, Rosa, and Cotoneaster horizontalis.
