Suta flagellum (McCoy, 1878) can reach a maximum total length of 45 cm (18 in) when including the tail. Its most distinctive marking is an hourglass-shaped black patch that stretches from the back of the nape to the area between its eyes. The dorsal side of this snake's body ranges from orange to tan, while the ventral side is cream-colored. In New South Wales, the preferred natural habitats of Suta flagellum are temperate grasslands and grassy woodlands. Suta flagellum is viviparous, and its maximum brood size is seven, meaning broods typically contain seven or fewer offspring.
