About Suillus decipiens (Peck) Kuntze

Suillus decipiens (Peck) Kuntze is a species of fungus that belongs to the family Suillaceae. Charles Horton Peck first formally described this species in 1889 under the name Boletinus decipiens. Otto Kuntze later moved the species to the genus Suillus in 1898. Its cap is yellowish, measures 3.5โ€“7 centimetres (1+3โ„8โ€“2+3โ„4 inches) wide, and changes shape from convex to flattened as it matures, with tannish scales on its surface. The yellow hymenophore tubes of the fungus grow up to 5 millimetres (1โ„4 inch) in length. Its pale stem is 4โ€“7 centimetres (1+5โ„8โ€“2+3โ„4 inches) long and 7โ€“15 millimetres (1โ„4โ€“5โ„8 inch) thick. This species occurs in southeastern North America, and its range extends as far north as New Jersey. Suillus decipiens is an edible fungus.
