About Streptanthus hallii (Payson) Jeps.

This plant is currently classified as Caulanthus hallii, with the scientific synonym Streptanthus hallii (Payson) Jeps. It is an annual herb that grows a hollow stem. Long, deeply cut leaves that are hairless, or sometimes bristly, fringe the base of the stem. Its flowers are greenish yellow, with a coat of hairy sepals covering narrow, pale petals. The fruit it produces is a silique that can reach up to about 11 centimeters (4.3 inches) in length. The species is native to southern California and northern Baja California. It grows in the Colorado Desert (the western portion of the Sonoran Desert), the sky islands of the Mojave Desert, and the dry eastern slopes of the Peninsular Ranges.
