This species, scientifically named Stratiomys singularior (Harris, 1776), has a body length ranging from 13.5 to 17 mm. Males of the species have hairy eyes, while females lack any yellow postocular collar. The tibiae and venter are mainly black, with the venter marked by pale bands. The dorsal side of the abdomen has three pairs of small yellow spots, and the abdominal apex is yellow or orange. Its known distribution covers Western Europe, European Russia, the Caucasus, the Russian Far East, Siberia, and Central Asia.
