About Stomiopera unicolor (Gould, 1843)

The white-gaped honeyeater, with the scientific name Stomiopera unicolor, is a bird species that belongs to the honeyeater family Meliphagidae. This species is endemic to Australia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. Before 2011, the white-gaped honeyeater was classified in the genus Lichenostomus. It was moved to the genus Stomiopera after a 2011 publication of a molecular phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that the original genus Lichenostomus was polyphyletic.
