About Stipecampus cristatus (McCulloch & Waite, 1918)

Stipecampus cristatus, commonly known as the ring-backed pipefish, is a species of pipefish. This species is the only known member of the genus Stipecampus. It is found in Indian Ocean waters off the southern coast of Australia. It lives on reefs within beds of red and brown algae, and can be found at depths down to 15 metres (49 feet). The species reaches a maximum standard length of 22 centimetres (8.7 inches).
