Adult moths of this species have a wingspan ranging from 4 to 4.5 millimeters. The larvae feed on plants from the genus Prunus, including Prunus serotina, Prunus pensylvanica, and Prunus nigra. Larvae of Stigmella prunifoliella create mines within the leaves of their host plants.
