Stigmatopora argus, commonly called the spotted pipefish, is a species of ray-finned fish belonging to Syngnathidae, the family that includes pipefish and seahorses. This species was first validly published under its current scientific name by Richardson in 1840. It is endemic to Australia. Individuals are typically green, with distinct black spots across their dorsal surface, and can reach a maximum length of 27 centimetres. Stigmatopora argus has a prehensile tail, which it uses to cling to seagrass or macroalgae. It preys on small crustaceans, specifically including copepods and mysids.
