About Stictopleurus punctatonervosus (Goeze, 1778)
Stictopleurus punctatonervosus (Goeze, 1778) reaches a body length of 6.5–9 millimetres (0.26–0.35 inches). Individuals of this bug species have a pronotum with regular punctuation, a banded connexivum, and a scutellum with a rounded tip. Their body ranges in color from grey-brown to black, and their abdomen is often greenish. This species can be told apart from its close relative Stictopleurus abutilon by the shape of marks on the anterior margin of the pronotum: Stictopleurus punctatonervosus has two half-circle marks, while S. abutilon has full circles. This species is widespread across most of Europe, and its range extends eastward to Siberia and Central Asia. It favors dry, warm grassland habitats, and is commonly found in meadows, on wasteland, and along roadsides.
