About Stictoleptura rubra (Linnaeus, 1758)

Stictoleptura rubra grows to a body length between 10 and 20 millimetres, or 0.39 to 0.79 inches. This species shows clear sexual dimorphism, with distinct differences in body color and shape between males and females. Females have uniformly reddish-brown or reddish-orange elytra and pronotum, while males have black heads and pronotums. Male elytra are brown or pale ochre, and males are often smaller and more narrow-bodied than females. This species is distributed across the European mainland, Russia, and North Africa. It can also be found in Turkey and Great Britain.
