About Stictocephala diceros Say

Stictocephala diceros, commonly called the two-horned treehopper, is a hemipteran insect species that belongs to the family Membracidae. Its distribution covers most of eastern North America. This includes parts of southeastern Canada that lie adjacent to the United States border, and regions of the United States such as the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast. It can also be found in some western U.S. states, specifically Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. This species lives in temperate and hardwood forests. Its primary host plant is American black elderberry, but it is also known to feed on other flowering plants from the families Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Fagaceae, and Rosaceae. Adult individuals of this species are brown, and reach a length of 8 to 9 millimeters.
