Stenoptilodes taprobanes is a moth species that belongs to the family Pterophoridae. It has a pantropical distribution that also extends into subtropical regions. The wingspan of this moth ranges from 10 to 20 millimetres, or 0.39 to 0.79 inches. This species is very similar in appearance to Stenoptilodes brevipennis, and genitalia examination is required for accurate identification. Larvae of Stenoptilodes taprobanes have been recorded feeding on a wide range of plants: these include Hypoestes betsiliensis, Campylanthus salsoloides, Centipeda minima, Hydrolea species, Spergularia maritima, Vaccinium species, Sabatia species, Clinopodium vulgare, Antirrhinum majus, and Samolus. Adult moths can be found in flight during February, April, July, and September.
