Stenoplax conspicua, the chiton species originally described by Dall in 1879, can reach a maximum length of approximately 15.4 centimeters, or 6.1 inches. Individuals of this species may be colored gray, green, or brown, and commonly have pink coloring in the center of their valves. This species is distributed in Baja California, Mexico. It inhabits the intermediate and low tide zones, where it lives behind small pebbles that are partially hidden in sand.
