About Stenodema calcarata (Fallen, 1807)

Adult Stenodema calcarata measure 7–8 millimetres (0.28–0.31 in) in length, and have a longitudinal furrow between their eyes. This species lives on a wide range of grasses in the family Poaceae, including Agrostis tenuis, Alopecurus pratensis, and species in the genus Festuca. It is also found on Molinia caerulea in bogs, alongside many other grasses. It additionally occurs on plants from the Cyperaceae and Juncaceae families, including the sedge genera Carex and Scirpus, and Juncus rushes.
