Stenodactylus sthenodactylus (Lichtenstein, 1823), commonly called Lichtenstein's short-fingered gecko or elegant gecko, is a species of lizard belonging to the family Gekkonidae. This species can be found across a wide range that includes the Middle East (Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, and Saudi Arabia), the whole of North Africa, a small marginal area in West Africa (Mali), and the northern part of East Africa (Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, Kenya, and Ethiopia). It is widespread and common across its range, but it is not highly abundant, and it is associated with habitats ranging from semi-arid to hyperarid.
