About Stenocactus coptonogonus (Lem.) A.Berger

Stenocactus coptonogonus (Lem.) A.Berger is a small globose to subglobose cactus, growing 7–10 cm (2.8–3.9 in) across. Unlike other species in the genus Stenocactus, it does not have the genus's characteristic numerous wavy ribs. Instead, it bears 10 to 15 stout, thick, triangular ribs that measure 1.5 cm (0.59 in) high and 5 mm (0.20 in) or more wide. It produces white flowers with purple or violet mid-veins, which reach 3–4 cm (1.2–1.6 in) in diameter. This cactus occurs in the Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, and Hidalgo regions of Mexico.
