About Stenobothrus nigromaculatus (Herrich-Schäffer, 1840)

Stenobothrus nigromaculatus (Herrich-Schäffer, 1840) is a species in the family Acrididae. It occurs across the Palearctic. In Europe, it is found locally in Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy (the Alps and the Apennines), the Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, and northern Greece. Further east, its range extends through Asia Minor and the Caucasus to Siberia. In Germany, the species generally prefers altitudes between 250 and 900 meters, but has been found at almost 1500 meters in the Allgäu. In Switzerland, it occurs at altitudes from 500 to 2270 meters.
