Bicolor damselfish, with the scientific name Stegastes partitus (Poey, 1868), can reach a maximum length of about 10 cm (3.9 in). The head and front half of its body are dark grey or black, while the rear half of its body is pale, usually with some yellow. Coloring of this fish shows regional variations. Its large dorsal fin contains 12 spines and 14 to 17 soft rays. Its anal fin is also large, and it has two spines and 13 to 15 soft rays.
