Stegastes gascoynei (Whitley, 1964), commonly known as the Coral Sea gregory, is a species of damselfish that belongs to the family Pomacentridae. This fish is found in the western Pacific Ocean, where it inhabits waters at depths ranging from 1 to 30 meters. It can reach a maximum total length of up to 15 centimeters. Its specific name honors HMAS Gascoyne, a Royal Australian Navy River-class frigate; the type specimen of this species was collected from this ship. This species was formerly classified under the name Plectroglyphidodon gascoynei.
