This species is only found growing above the tree line in the Alps across Switzerland, France, Italy, and Austria, occurring at elevations up to 3,500 meters. It has a wingspan measuring between 35 and 44 mm. Adult moths fly from July to August, with the timing varying by location. The larvae of Standfussiana wiskotti feed on a variety of herbaceous plants.
