About Stackhousia viminea Sm.

Stackhousia viminea Sm., commonly known as slender Stackhousia, is a common small flowering plant species that is endemic to Australia. It can grow up to 70 centimetres tall. This plant is found in heathland, pastures, eucalyptus woodland, and forest habitats, most often in moist locations. It produces attractive yellowish or red flowers. Its specific epithet, viminea, refers to the plant’s slender stems. The genus Stackhousia is named after John Stackhouse, who was both a botanist and an artist. The first collection of this species was made at Sydney by John White; it was formally described a few years after collection by James Smith, a prolific English botanist.
